Barrel cactus that is part of the Echinocacteae cactus group. It is made up of a single spherical or sometimes, cylindrical stem. It grows to about 60-80 cm in width and from 50-200 cm in height. This cactus blooms yellow flowers in the spring. The fruit that this cactus bares become ripe in August. This dry plant can be found with many woolly white hairs covering it. The Biznaga can also be found on rocky slopes with shallow soils and in a semiarid climate, usually with 250-400 mm of rainfall and an average temperature range of 17-22 degrees.
